President Donald Trump has announced that South African officials will not be invited to next year’s G20 summit in Miami, citing unsubstantiated claims of a “white genocide” against Afrikaners in South Africa.

Eko Hot News reports that Trump announced his Truth Social platform, repeating allegations that South Africa is unworthy of participation in international forums. The G20 summit, scheduled for 2026, will be hosted in Miami at Trump National Doral, a resort owned by the Trump family.

This development comes months after the 2025 G20 summit, hosted in South Africa, saw minimal U.S. representation following similar claims by Trump about the treatment of Afrikaners, the white ethnic minority that governed South Africa during apartheid. Trump’s assertions were publicly supported by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, a South African native, during his advisory role in the early months of Trump’s second term.

Earlier this year, Trump hosted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House, during which he displayed a video montage he claimed supported his genocide narrative. Both Ramaphosa and South African officials have repeatedly denied any state-led persecution or land seizures targeting Afrikaner farmers.

The Trump administration has previously issued an executive order facilitating the resettlement of Afrikaners in the U.S., citing “government-sponsored race-based discrimination” in South Africa. The South African government, however, maintains that land reform policies do not target any racial group and that no genocide is occurring.

Trump’s announcement continues to fuel controversy over U.S.-South Africa relations, with critics warning that the move risks straining diplomatic ties ahead of the G20 summit.
