Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has assured members of the Nigerian Armed Forces of his administration’s unwavering support in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
Eko Hot News reports that the Governor gave the assurance through his deputy, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, during the Parade and Laying of Wreaths ceremony marking the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day at the Remembrance Arcade, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the sacrifices of military personnel and fallen heroes would never be forgotten, stressing that the Lagos State Government remains committed to supporting the families left behind.

He noted that members of the Armed Forces continue to risk their lives daily to protect lives and property across the country, making it imperative for governments at all levels to provide sustained support.
According to him, the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a moment to honour serving officers, remember fallen heroes, and reassure their families that their sacrifices were not in vain.
Sanwo-Olu emphasised that Lagos State remains dedicated to assisting widows and dependents of fallen heroes, adding that while some support efforts may not always be public, the government remains resolute in standing by the Armed Forces.

He reiterated that the ceremony symbolises national unity and collective appreciation for the courage and commitment of Nigeria’s military personnel.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Controller-General of the Nigerian Legion Council, DCG Wolimoh Hakeem Olawale, commended the Lagos State Government for its consistent support to the Armed Forces and the families of fallen heroes.
DCG Olawale reaffirmed the Nigerian Legion’s commitment to the welfare of military veterans and dependents of deceased personnel, describing the Legion as a statutory body dedicated to supporting those who served the nation.
The event drew military officials, veterans, government representatives and members of the public, who gathered to pay tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes.
