Procurement Officers in the Lagos State Civil Service have been urged to reposition themselves as strategic drivers of government performance rather than routine administrators.

Eko Hot News reports that the Commissioner for Finance and Chairman of the Public Procurement Agency (PPA) Governing Board, Mr Abayomi Oluyomi, made the call at the 2026 Public Procurement Planning Clinic held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo.

Oluyomi described procurement and internal audit as key “engines of governance,” noting that Lagos’ strong economic standing is supported by world-class procurement systems developed in collaboration with the World Bank.
