OEQA Strategic Plan Set to Transform Education Standards in Lagos

The Office of Education Quality Assurance has unveiled a new Strategic Plan aimed at boosting education standards across Lagos State, with strong backing from key government officials.

Eko Hot News reports that the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, described the plan as forward-looking and aligned with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the current administration.

The unveiling ceremony was held at the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Ikeja, where stakeholders gathered to witness the launch of the policy framework.

Alli-Balogun highlighted key elements of the plan, including the automation of private school registration. He noted that the initiative would reduce physical visits, limit manual processes, and improve regulatory efficiency.

He added that the Strategic Plan represents a renewed OEQA focused on professionalism, collaboration, and improved learning outcomes across schools in Lagos State.

In her presentation, Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, emphasised the importance of structured planning in driving public sector transformation.

She explained that the initiative would ensure standardised learning outcomes, stronger school supervision, and improved accountability systems within the education sector.

According to her, the plan is built on data-driven decision-making and sustainable reforms designed to deliver measurable impact on teaching and learning.

Earlier, the Director-General of OEQA, Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa, called on staff to support the implementation of the Strategic Plan. He stressed that collaboration is key to achieving its objectives.

He explained that the policy simplifies the agency’s mandate with a clear focus on regulation, evaluation, and monitoring to improve school standards.

Dr. Ogunmuyiwa introduced the SCRIPT framework, which stands for Staff Capacity, Collaboration, Revenue, Improved Governance, Professionalism, and Technology, as the roadmap for execution.

He noted that the framework would enhance efficiency, transparency, and innovation within the agency’s operations.

The Director-General also revealed that implementation has already commenced, with training programmes and automation processes underway to strengthen monitoring systems.

In goodwill messages, former Acting Director-Generals, Hameedat Sanni and Remi Abdul, described the initiative as a bold step toward repositioning education in Lagos State.

They encouraged staff to embrace the reforms and contribute actively to achieving the plan’s goals.

Also speaking, Mojisola Bamgbose, Director of Administration and Human Resources, described the launch as a defining moment for the agency.

She noted that the Strategic Plan reflects collective stakeholder input and emphasised that success depends on effective implementation and measurable outcomes.

The initiative forms part of ongoing reforms under the leadership of the Director-General, marking significant progress within his first 100 days in office.

The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to strengthening the education sector through innovation, planning, and collaboration.
