The Office of Education Quality Assurance paid a courtesy visit to the Parastatals Monitoring Office to strengthen collaboration and improve education standards in Lagos State.
Eko Hot News reports that the engagement took place at the Secretariat in Alausa, bringing together key stakeholders committed to advancing the state’s education system. The visit reflects ongoing efforts to build a more efficient and responsive public sector.
Welcoming the delegation, Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro commended OEQA for its dedication to strengthening education quality. He encouraged the agency to sustain progress by reinforcing institutional frameworks and improving learning outcomes.
He also highlighted the importance of expanding access to quality education across the state. According to him, continuity and innovation remain essential in achieving long-term success in the sector.

The Special Adviser emphasised the role of the National Identification Number system in improving regulatory processes. He noted that digital integration can support efficiency and better coordination among agencies.
He further stressed the need for compliance among schools. Maintaining standards, he explained, is key to ensuring credibility and accountability within the education system.
In his remarks, Olugbemiga Ayoola Aina applauded OEQA’s efforts in maintaining high standards. He called for stronger collaboration among agencies to promote shared learning and best practices.
He noted that understanding internal structures and processes is essential for effective governance. This clarity, he said, supports better coordination and informed decision-making.

The Permanent Secretary also encouraged consistent monitoring and engagement with global education partners. Such collaboration can help strengthen capacity and drive sustainable improvements.
Speaking during the visit, Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa reiterated OEQA’s mandate to regulate and improve education quality. He explained that the agency ensures schools meet required standards and provide conducive learning environments.
He described OEQA as the audit arm of the education sector. The agency conducts inspections and evaluates school operations to maintain quality across pre-tertiary institutions.

Dr. Ogunmuyiwa highlighted plans to strengthen staff capacity and deepen stakeholder engagement. He also revealed efforts to introduce school self-evaluation systems to improve accountability.
The Director-General expressed readiness to work closely with the PMO. He noted that collaboration will support institutional transformation and better service delivery.
The visit underscored the importance of partnerships in driving progress. Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to building a stronger education system in Lagos.
