The newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO), Mrs Oluwabukola Khadijah Adeyemo, has officially assumed duty, urging staff to drive a people-centred approach to water regulation in the state.
Eko Hot News reports that Adeyemo made the call during her first interactive meeting with management and staff at the agency’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, where she emphasised the need for collective action to strengthen the sector.

Adeyemo outlined the Commission’s strategic direction, noting that its vision is to position Lagos State as a model for water regulation in Nigeria and across the African continent.
She acknowledged the challenges facing LASWARCO but described them as surmountable, stressing that unity, commitment, and determination among staff will be key to achieving the agency’s goals.
The Executive Secretary reiterated that water is a public good essential to health, productivity, and sustainable development, adding that effective regulation is central to the prosperity of Lagos and the well-being of its residents.

She reaffirmed the Commission’s mandate to ensure safe, reliable, affordable, and sustainable water service delivery, in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda.
Adeyemo pledged to strengthen regulatory frameworks to promote transparency, accountability, and compliance, while leveraging technology, innovation, and global best practices to boost efficiency in service delivery.
She also committed to building staff capacity through continuous training and professional development, emphasising the need to uphold a culture of excellence and discipline within the Commission.

Adeyemo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead LASWARCO and recognised the responsibility of safeguarding water resources, describing the role as critical to human survival and socio-economic progress.
