The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTAC) has organised a two-day in-house training for Tourist Guide Officers to strengthen service standards and enhance visitor experiences across the state.

Eko Hot News reports that the training, themed “Emphasising Best Practices, Professionalism and Exceptional Customer Service in Tour Guiding,” was held at the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on February 18, 2026, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, stressed the need to equip tourist guides with relevant skills and professionalism for effective service delivery.

She noted that Lagos boasts rich historical and cultural assets, highlighting key Badagry landmarks such as the Badagry Slave Trade Market, First Storey Building, Point of No Return, and First Missionary Church as sites requiring accurate and engaging interpretation.

Benson-Awoyinka said the initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of positioning Lagos as Africa’s leading tourism destination through quality service and seamless visitor engagement.
