The team behind the Miss Nigeria Pageant has visited the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, to discuss partnership opportunities ahead of the 45th edition of the pageant.
Eko Hot News reports that the delegation, led by renowned actress and filmmaker Rita Dominic-Anosike, paid a courtesy visit to the commissioner at her office in Alausa.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the pageant organisers and the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
Discussions during the visit centred on promoting a value-driven beauty pageant that supports youth development, cultural promotion and women empowerment.
Speaking during the meeting, Benson-Awoyinka emphasised the need to redefine beauty pageants to reflect stronger values and meaningful impact.
According to her, platforms such as Miss Nigeria should inspire young women to become ambassadors of culture, leadership and integrity.

She explained that beauty contests should celebrate more than physical appearance by recognising intelligence, confidence and cultural pride among contestants.
The commissioner noted that young women should be encouraged to embrace values that positively influence society and inspire younger generations.
Benson-Awoyinka also reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to support programmes that promote youth engagement and women empowerment across the state.
She described Lagos as a vibrant centre for creativity, commerce and culture that provides opportunities for initiatives that nurture talent within the creative economy.
The commissioner added that promoting a positive national image remains important in strengthening Nigeria’s cultural identity on the global stage.

According to her, initiatives such as the Miss Nigeria Pageant can highlight the richness of Nigeria’s cultural heritage beyond fashion and appearance.
In her remarks, Dominic-Anosike outlined the renewed vision of the Miss Nigeria organisation to reposition the pageant as a platform for leadership and personal development.
She explained that the organisation is placing stronger emphasis on education, mentorship and intellectual growth for contestants.
Dominic-Anosike added that the pageant now includes structured development programmes designed to build communication skills, confidence and leadership capacity among participants.

She noted that the transformation observed among contestants after these programmes demonstrates the importance of mentorship and exposure.
The Miss Nigeria chairman also revealed plans to introduce year-round activities for the platform.
These initiatives include a Beauty and Fashion Fair as well as cultural travel experiences aimed at promoting Nigeria’s heritage.
Dominic-Anosike emphasised that the organisation wants contestants to understand that the role of a beauty queen goes beyond appearance.

She explained that young women can pursue professional careers while also representing cultural values and leadership ideals.
Officials at the meeting expressed optimism that the collaboration between the pageant organisers and the Lagos State Government will strengthen youth empowerment and cultural promotion in the state.
