MASSEY CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL has held its 2025 Stakeholders Meeting, bringing together staff, community members, and partners to discuss the hospital’s achievements, challenges, and plans for future growth.
Eko Hot News reports that the event also marked the first official visit of Dr. Cecilia Abimbola Mabogunje to MASSEY CHILDREN HOSPITAL since her appointment as Permanent Secretary of the Health Service Commission (HSC). Mabogunje, who previously served as the hospital’s Medical Director from 2019 to 2023, was welcomed with what many described as a symbolic “homecoming.”

Held under the theme “Reflecting On Our Past, Present and Projecting To The Future” at the hospital’s Conference Room on Lagos Island, the meeting was organised by the Service Charter team. It provided a platform for open dialogue between the hospital management and stakeholders on improving service delivery and the overall development of MASSEY CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL.
In her goodwill message, HSC Chairman Dr. (Mrs.) Atinuke Onayiga encouraged stakeholders to freely express their opinions, stressing the importance of collaboration and community support. She highlighted the hospital’s role as a centre of excellence in paediatric care and called for continued philanthropy to sustain its growth.
Dr Mabogunje, in her speech, commended the leadership of MASSEY CHILDREN HOSPITAL for their consistent vision and acknowledged the ongoing construction of the new hospital, which she said would significantly enhance paediatric healthcare services in Lagos State.
The hospital’s Medical Director/CEO, Dr Olanike Abosede Olutekunbi, described the session as an interactive opportunity to strengthen partnerships and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to prioritising the care of children. She also recognised the contributions of previous Medical Directors who laid the foundation for the hospital’s current successes.
Service Improvement Officer, Mrs Joan Oluyemi Yetunde, urged stakeholders to support the hospital’s growth and to liaise with local authorities to prevent disruptions caused by social events that could affect emergency access for children.
Other highlights of the meeting included speeches from former Medical Director Dr Abiejuwa Emokpae, stakeholder contributions, a short documentary showcasing the hospital’s journey, and award presentations to key contributors, including Dr Mabogunje and Dr Emokpae.
Notable attendees included HSC Commissioners Dr Mobolaji Ayotunde Olukoya, Dr. (Pharm.) Moyosore Adejumo, Dr. (Nurse) Ololade Fadipe, and Mrs Ruth Awobajo, representing the Director of Nursing Services.
The meeting concluded with renewed pledges to advance paediatric care, strengthen community engagement, and ensure that MASSEY CHILDREN HOSPITAL remains a leading institution in child healthcare across Lagos State.
