The General Manager of the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL), Engr. Olayinka Abdul, has signed the Agency’s Laboratory Quality Policy Statement in a bold step toward ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation.

Eko Hot News reports that the signing ceremony was held at the Agency’s headquarters in Ojodu-Berger, with all personnel in attendance.

The event marked a significant milestone in LSMTL’s journey toward international recognition and global best practices in materials testing.

Speaking at the ceremony, Engr. Abdul described the accreditation drive as transformative for the Agency.

She noted that stakeholders and members of the public have consistently commended LSMTL’s operations.

According to her, feedback from clients and industry partners indicates that the Agency’s services align with international standards.

Following the policy signing, all staff members appended their signatures to the Code of Conduct.

The Quality Policy outlines a comprehensive framework for achieving and sustaining global standards.

It begins with a strong commitment to impartiality, integrity and independence in all laboratory operations.

The policy states that testing and calibration activities must remain free from commercial or financial pressures.

This measure is aimed at ensuring objective and reliable results at all times.

The Agency also pledged full conformity with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.

The standard covers both management and technical processes, including method validation and equipment calibration.

Engr. Abdul stressed the importance of meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

She said confidentiality, accuracy and timely delivery of results remain top priorities.

The policy also highlights human capital development as a critical pillar.

Staff are expected to undergo continuous training to enhance competence and service delivery.

Regular internal audits and management reviews will be conducted to drive continuous improvement.

Engr. Abdul expressed gratitude to Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his support and commitment to the Agency’s modernization agenda.

The Director of Laboratory Services, Engr. Wale Akinsanya, disclosed that specialised teams have been set up to oversee the accreditation process.
