Lagos State Government officials have conducted a joint inspection of the Lekki–Epe Expressway ahead of its scheduled rehabilitation, reaffirming readiness for works to commence on Sunday, January 25.
Eko Hot News reports that the inspection was led by the Commissioner for Transportation, the Special Adviser on Infrastructure, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Transportation and the Office of Infrastructure, as part of final preparations for the critical road intervention.
According to the state government, the rehabilitation will be executed in clearly defined phases across key intersections along the busy corridor to ensure efficiency and reduce inconvenience to commuters.
Authorities disclosed that comprehensive traffic management measures have been put in place, including traffic diversions, counterflow arrangements during peak hours, and coordinated night and day construction schedules.

Adequate traffic management personnel, signage, and safety measures will also be deployed throughout the rehabilitation period to ensure smooth vehicular movement and protect road users.
The government described the inspection as a proactive step to minimise disruption while delivering a safer, more durable expressway that meets the growing transportation needs of residents along the Lekki–Epe axis.
Officials noted that the Lekki–Epe Expressway remains one of Lagos’ most strategic transport corridors, serving residential communities, commercial hubs, and industrial developments.

Residents and commuters were urged to cooperate with traffic officials, adhere to diversions, and exercise patience during the construction period.
The state government assured Lagosians that the rehabilitation aligns with its broader infrastructure renewal agenda aimed at improving road safety, easing congestion, and enhancing economic activities.
The intervention, authorities added, will deliver long-term benefits by extending the lifespan of the expressway and improving overall mobility across the Lekki–Epe corridor.
