The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) enforcement team carried out an early morning operation at Isale-Eko on Sunday, February 1, 2026, during which several illegal waste carts were seized.
Eko Hot News reports that the enforcement exercise took place in the early hours of the day as part of ongoing efforts by LAWMA to curb indiscriminate waste disposal and restore environmental order in densely populated areas of the state.
Officials said the seized carts were being used for unauthorised waste collection and disposal, a practice that often contributes to street dumping, blocked drainage channels, and environmental degradation.
The operation was executed peacefully by LAWMA officers, who moved swiftly through identified hotspots within Isale-Eko to enforce compliance with the state’s waste management regulations.

According to the Authority, the exercise forms part of sustained monitoring and enforcement activities aimed at discouraging cart pushers and operators from engaging in activities outside approved waste management frameworks.
LAWMA reiterated that only registered and approved waste operators are permitted to collect and transport refuse within Lagos, stressing that illegal operations undermine efforts to keep the city clean.

Residents and traders in the area were advised to patronise authorised Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators for waste disposal and to avoid engaging unlicensed cart pushers.
The Authority warned that enforcement actions would continue across the state, especially in areas prone to environmental abuse, adding that offenders would face sanctions in line with existing environmental laws.

LAWMA further encouraged members of the public to cooperate with its officers and report illegal waste disposal activities through official channels.
The Lagos State Government has consistently emphasised environmental sanitation as a shared responsibility, calling on residents to support initiatives aimed at achieving a cleaner and healthier city.

The Isale-Eko operation underscores LAWMA’s commitment to strengthening enforcement, improving compliance, and promoting sustainable waste management practices across Lagos.
