The Lagos State Government has expressed readiness to partner with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on the development of a world-class Convention Centre along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, near Alaro City.
Eko Hot News reports that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made this known through his Deputy, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, while receiving the leadership of LCCI, led by its newly elected President, Engr. Leye Kupoluyi, during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor’s Office in Alausa.
The proposed Convention Centre is expected to serve as a major hub for business summits, trade exhibitions, conferences, and international events, further strengthening Lagos’ position as Africa’s leading commercial and investment destination.

Governor Sanwo-Olu assured the delegation that the State Government is open to working with LCCI on the project, stressing the need for effective collaboration with relevant Ministries, particularly the Ministry of Commerce, to ensure smooth execution.
He noted that the initiative aligns with the administration’s THEMES Plus Agenda, especially in the areas of economic growth, tourism development, job creation, and global competitiveness.

The Governor added that such a facility would attract international events to Lagos, boost local businesses, enhance investor confidence, and reinforce the state’s reputation as a centre for commerce and innovation in Africa.
Sanwo-Olu also highlighted ongoing agricultural initiatives, revealing that the state operates a five-year and a 15-year development plan, while encouraging LCCI to collaborate with the Ministry of Food Systems to strengthen food security.

Earlier, LCCI President Engr. Leye Kupoluyi commended the Lagos State Government for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, noting that collaboration between the state and the chamber is critical to Lagos’ continental ambitions.
He also disclosed plans by LCCI to partner with the Ministry of Agriculture to boost local food production and strengthen the state’s food system.
