The Lagos State Government has presented cheques to another 250 indigent residents under the Eko Cares Financial Assistance Programme, reaffirming its commitment to social welfare and inclusive governance.

Eko Hot News reports that the cheque presentation ceremony was held at the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, where beneficiaries were formally empowered with financial support to ease economic challenges.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, led the presentation alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Office, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore.

The beneficiaries, drawn from different parts of the state, were selected based on demonstrated need, in line with the objectives of the Eko Cares initiative.

The programme is designed to provide timely financial relief to vulnerable residents of Lagos, helping them meet basic needs and improve their quality of life.

With this latest disbursement, the total number of beneficiaries supported under the scheme in 2026 has risen to over 1,000, reflecting the scale and consistency of the intervention.

Officials explained that the initiative forms part of the broader social protection framework of the Sanwo-Olu administration, aimed at cushioning the impact of economic pressures on low-income residents.
