The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to deepen civic awareness with a three-day legislative sensitisation programme held across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the programme was organised by the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement (OPL&CE) to educate residents on newly enacted laws and strengthen public understanding of civic rights and responsibilities.
The sensitisation focused on three key laws recently passed by the Lagos State Government: the Human Organ Harvesting and Tissue Transplant Law 2024, the Victims Assistance and Witness Protection Law 2024, and the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency Law 2024.
The first and second editions of the programme were held at Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA in Ikorodu under Lagos East Senatorial District, and at Red Cross Hall, Adekunle, Yaba, under Lagos Central Senatorial District.

The final session took place at Isolo LCDA under Lagos West Senatorial District, where the Permanent Secretary, OPL&CE, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore explained that the initiative was aimed at promoting legislative education and ensuring residents understand the implications of new laws.
She conveyed the goodwill of the Special Adviser on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, noting that community engagement and feedback remain critical to responsive governance.

The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Adebayo Olasoju, represented by Hon. Abiola Ayinde Marshal, commended the programme, describing it as a vital link between government and the people.

Officials from the Citizens’ Mediation Bureau, Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, and the Law Reform Commission also educated participants on dispute resolution, consumer rights, and key provisions of the new laws.
Residents engaged actively during interactive sessions, raising concerns on infrastructure, electricity supply, consumer protection, flooding, and illegal practices, with assurances that all feedback would be escalated to relevant authorities.
