Lagos State Government has celebrated 17 retired permanent secretaries at a colourful pen-down ceremony held on Wednesday to mark the end of over three decades of distinguished service.

Eko Hot News reports that the event took place at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, where the Head of Service (HoS), Mr Bode Agoro, described the ceremony as a tribute to commitment, perseverance, and exemplary public service.

Agoro noted that every public servant aspires to begin well and finish strong, adding that the retirees had achieved this milestone in good health and sound mind.

He welcomed dignitaries, families and colleagues of the celebrants, stressing that the occasion was special because it recognised individuals who had dedicated more than 30 years to the development of Lagos State.

The HoS thanked God on behalf of the retirees for sustaining them through their years of service and into a fulfilling retirement.

He expressed the state government’s appreciation for their loyalty, dedication and sacrifices, noting that their contributions significantly shaped Lagos’ growth and administrative progress.

Agoro assured the retirees that their connection with the state would continue, explaining that their expertise would remain valuable through the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS).

He also thanked Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat for supporting public service initiatives and commended the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs Sunkanmi Oyegbola, and her team for organising the ceremony.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mrs Adekanye Amudat expressed gratitude to God for sustaining their lives to witness the honour.

She thanked the Lagos State Government for recognising their service and assured that, although retired, they remained committed to supporting the state.

Mrs Amudat pledged their continued prayers and contributions toward the development and progress of Lagos State.
