The Ikorodu Local Government Legislative House has screened and confirmed nominees for key administrative positions following the submission of names by the Lagos State Government.
Eko Hot News reports that although the state government initially approved a list of 17 nominees for positions including Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors, and Special Advisers, the legislative arm of the council screened a total of 23 nominees during the exercise.
The screening was conducted by the 7th Ikorodu Local Government Legislative House, presided over by Wasiu Sotomiwa. The session lasted several hours, with nominees appearing before the lawmakers from morning until evening.
During the exercise, the legislative house engaged nominees in detailed discussions concerning their qualifications, experience, and plans for contributing to governance in Ikorodu.
Observers noted that the screening process focused primarily on competence and preparedness rather than political affiliations or personal connections.

Some nominees were temporarily asked to step out of the plenary at different stages due to documentation issues or the need for additional clarification. They were later invited back to complete the screening process.
In the end, all the nominees were successfully screened and confirmed ahead of their planned inauguration by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Adedayo Ladega.
As part of the screening requirements, nominees presented several official documents to the legislative house. These included curriculum vitae, tax clearance certificates, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) cards, party membership cards, voter cards, and other credentials.
Nominees whose documents required updates were given time to provide the necessary information to the legislative house before final confirmation.
Among those screened was Mr. Yusuf Gbadebo, a former council supervisor who is expected to serve as Secretary to the Local Government.

Also appearing before the lawmakers were three former council leaders: Hon. Adebowale Adebola Ajayi, Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, and Hon. Babatunde Awojobi.
Several former councillors and past cabinet members were also screened, including Hon. Olohunwa Oluwasegun Oshodi, Prince Lateef Oyefusi, Mr. Animashaun Olawale Mutiu, Alhaji Musbau Alejo, and Mr. Kazeem Sowemimo.
Other nominees included Mr. Sheu Babatunde Shokeyo, Mr. Babatunde Alade Makati, Mr. Oyenuga Olasupo Joshua, Mrs. Motunrayo Oluwanishola, Mr. Nofiu Luqman Adeniyi, Mr. Muhydeen Ayodele Are, Mr. Abdulfatai Olalekan Ibrahim, Mr. Mojeed Oluwaseun Kara, Mr. Murisiku Ajisebutu, Mrs. Bimpe Ogbe, Mr. Oladele Ogunfodunrin, Mr. Abiodun Balogun, and Mr. Ibrahim Adedeji Erubami.

During the screening, Prince Lateef Oyefusi responded to questions regarding his previous experience as Supervisor for Revenue. He explained that past administrations improved revenue generation by establishing additional market areas in the Agura and Gberigbe axis.
Another nominee, Mr. Babatunde Alade Makati, received commendation from lawmakers for his preparedness and academic credentials, which include a degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Transportation.
Makati highlighted his involvement in youth empowerment initiatives and pledged his support for the council’s development agenda.
Mrs. Motunrayo Oluwanishola, a medical practitioner and public health officer who previously served as Principal Secretary to the chairman, also appeared before the legislative house and received confirmation after deliberation.

Mr. Abiodun Balogun, a former councillorship aspirant with a master’s degree in Marketing, discussed his understanding of the responsibilities of a council supervisor and outlined plans to strengthen revenue administration.
Other nominees, including Mrs. Bimpe Ogbe and Mr. Oladele Ogunfodunrin, also presented their professional experiences and governance ideas during the screening process.
The legislative house emphasised the importance of accountability, teamwork, and effective communication in the performance of public office.
Following the successful screening exercise, the nominees are expected to be formally inaugurated by the council chairman as part of efforts to strengthen governance and administrative coordination within Ikorodu Local Government.
