Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is closing in on an unprecedented $800 billion net worth milestone following a massive funding round for his artificial intelligence company, xAI Holdings.

Eko Hot News reports that the funding comes months after xAI merged with Musk’s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), which initially valued the company at $113 billion. With this latest development, Musk is only about $20 billion away from becoming the first person ever worth $800 billion.

The company raised $20 billion from private investors, valuing xAI at $250 billion. This round increased the valuation of Musk’s 49 percent stake by roughly $62 billion, pushing his total fortune to around $780 billion.

The funding round also benefitted other early investors. Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud owns 1.6 percent of xAI, now valued at about $4 billion. In comparison, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison each hold roughly 0.8 percent, worth $2.1 billion.

Musk’s wealth has grown rapidly in recent years. In October 2025, he became the first person to surpass $500 billion, driven by a surge in Tesla stock. Later, SpaceX’s valuation reached $800 billion, helping Musk’s net worth top $600 billion, and subsequent business and legal developments pushed him past $700 billion.

SpaceX remains its largest asset, with a 42 percent stake valued at approximately $336 billion. Tesla contributes significantly to his wealth, with Musk owning 12 percent of its stock alongside valuable options.

xAI continues to invest aggressively in AI development, including its Grok chatbot, amid intense competition and legal scrutiny in the sector. Analysts note that Musk’s combination of high-value stakes in cutting-edge companies cements his position as the world’s wealthiest individual, estimated to be over $500 billion ahead of the second-richest person globally.
