Education District VI has successfully hosted the 2025 Festival of Arts, Culture, and Music, celebrating Lagos State’s diverse cultural heritage and promoting unity among students and communities.
Eko Hot News reports that the event brought together students, educators, traditional leaders, and cultural enthusiasts, featuring vibrant performances that showcased Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry.

In her opening remarks, Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of EDDIV, Mrs Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, stressed the importance of preserving indigenous languages, traditional attire, cuisine, and values, saying, “Our culture is our identity. We must keep our way of life alive for future generations.”

The festival featured an array of performances, including Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo dances, Ijala recitations, Apepe dance, rap and hip-hop showcases, and a student music talent hunt, highlighting creativity and the unifying power of cultural expression.

Dignitaries present included High Chief Alhaji Adebayo Adigun Belewu (Baale of Agbigbo, Idi-Araba), Alhaji Idris Lawal (Seriki of Idi-Araba), represented by Alhaji Abdul Azzez, and Comrade Umeh Peter Chukwudi J.P. (Onyeisi Ndigbo), who commended the inclusivity of the festival and urged respect for all cultural traditions.

Guest speaker, Mrs Orebiyi Memunat Olubunmi, delivered an inspiring address on Yoruba culture, describing it as a reflection of life from birth to death, and emphasising that language is both a means of communication and a symbol of identity.

The festival concluded with awards and gifts presented to schools that excelled in various cultural and musical competitions, celebrating talent and encouraging continued cultural engagement.
