The initiative forms part of the agency’s efforts to support inclusive governance and workplace accessibility.
It also reinforces the state government’s commitment to ensuring persons with disabilities thrive in the civil service.

Speaking at the event, the General Manager of LASODA, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, said the initiative was designed to strengthen the productivity and professional effectiveness of civil servants with disabilities across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

She encouraged the beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity by demonstrating excellence in their respective offices, stressing that outstanding performance could earn them recognition such as Best Staff Awards within their MDAs.

Oyetunde-Lawal further urged the beneficiaries to avoid making excuses in the workplace and instead utilise the tools provided to improve their work performance.

The LASODA boss also disclosed that the agency would request feedback from the MDAs where the beneficiaries work to evaluate how effectively the distributed tools are being used to enhance productivity.

She commended the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for approving increased budgetary allocations to support work-tool empowerment programmes for persons with disabilities in the state civil service.

The distributed tools included Intel Core HP laptops, HP laptops equipped with JAWS software for visually impaired users, mobility scooters, automated wheelchairs, hand prosthetic, arm and elbow crutches, under-arm crutches, as well as hearing aids.

Oyetunde-Lawal revealed that 50 civil servants with disabilities across various MDAs benefited from this phase of the empowerment initiative.

According to her, technological support has become increasingly important for persons with disabilities in the workplace, noting that the assistive tools were carefully selected to improve efficiency, accessibility, and productivity in their daily tasks.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ajayi Adeniyi from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education expressed gratitude to LASODA, stating that the laptop provided would significantly enhance productivity and help bridge functional gaps encountered in daily office work.

He added that the JAWS-enabled laptop is particularly suitable for the nature of his duties, making work easier and more accessible.
