Lagos State Health District V has recorded the highest vaccination coverage among the six health districts in the recently concluded Measles–Rubella Vaccine Introduction Campaign in Lagos State.

Eko Hot News reports that the district vaccinated the largest number of eligible children, reinforcing efforts to strengthen routine immunization and protect children from preventable illnesses.

The vaccination campaign targeted children aged nine months to 14 years, in line with national and global public health guidelines aimed at preventing measles and rubella infections.

The initiative formed part of broader health interventions designed to safeguard children and improve community health outcomes across Lagos State.

Health authorities noted that the campaign’s success highlights the importance of sustained immunization programmes and strong community engagement.

The achievement demonstrates the district’s commitment to ensuring that children are protected through safe and accessible vaccination services.

The milestone also aligns with the THEMES Plus development agenda of the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

The agenda prioritises improved healthcare delivery, disease prevention, and enhanced environmental health for residents across the state.

During the campaign, healthcare workers intensified community mobilisation efforts across various locations.

Vaccination teams visited markets, churches, mosques, and government health facilities to ensure easy access to the free vaccines for families and caregivers.

Through coordinated outreach activities and dedicated service delivery, thousands of eligible children across communities within Health District V received the measles–rubella vaccine. The exercise further strengthened the district’s routine immunization coverage and reinforced public health awareness among residents.

Speaking on the achievement, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District V, Oladapo Asiyanbi, emphasised that the strong performance reflects the district’s commitment to improving healthcare access for residents.
