The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), has organised a Pension Awareness Walk to educate active public servants on terminal benefits options under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
Eko Hot News reports that the awareness walk is part of LASPEC’s efforts to deepen understanding of pension processes and entitlements among the state workforce.
The walk commenced at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, and ended at the First Secretariat, Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA, Ikeja, drawing the participation of public servants and pension officials.

LASPEC explained that the initiative reflects a proactive strategy aimed at taking pension education beyond office settings and engaging workers directly within their work environment.
According to the Commission, the programme was designed to close existing knowledge gaps by providing accurate information, clarifying procedures, and addressing misconceptions surrounding terminal benefits under the CPS.

Officials noted that many public servants lack adequate understanding of their pension rights and options, making direct engagement necessary to improve awareness and confidence in the system.
The Commission reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to the welfare and future security of its workforce, stressing that pension education is critical to ensuring financial stability after retirement.
LASPEC further stated that continuous sensitisation would help workers make informed decisions about their retirement plans and enhance trust in the contributory pension framework.

Participants were encouraged to seek further guidance from LASPEC offices and utilise official communication channels for accurate pension-related information.
The Pension Awareness Walk underscores the Lagos State Government’s broader agenda of transparency, accountability, and worker-focused policies, while reinforcing its resolve to safeguard the long-term interests of public servants across the state.
