Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has nominated Dr. Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola for appointment as the Acting State Auditor-General, pending confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Eko Hot News reports that the nomination was approved by Governor Sanwo-Olu and conveyed through Circular No. CIR/HOS/’26/052, dated July 28, 2026, by the Office of the Head of Service. The appointment takes effect from the same date, subject to legislative confirmation.
Before her nomination, Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts. She earned recognition for her professionalism, integrity and commitment to strengthening public financial management in Lagos State.
Her nomination marks another step in the State Government’s efforts to reinforce accountability, transparency and effective financial oversight within the public service.
Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola was born on September 20, 1974, in Ikate-Elegushi, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State. She has built an impressive academic and professional career spanning accounting, finance and public administration.
She holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in International Business from Lagos State University, Ojo. She also obtained a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.
Her academic qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, as well as Higher National Diploma and National Diploma certificates in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
In addition, she earned an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Intelligence from the University of Lagos, further strengthening her expertise in financial accountability and governance.
Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola is a Fellow and member of several respected professional bodies within and outside Nigeria. Her memberships reflect years of dedication to professional excellence and ethical financial practice.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN). She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
The nominee equally belongs to the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) and the Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (CFIP-USA), among other recognised professional organisations.
Her contributions to society have also earned her notable recognition. She received the Distinguished Woman of Peace and Honour Award from the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) for her outstanding service and impact.
