Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce. He made this known at the opening of a three-day bootcamp for Directors of Administration and Human Resource in the State Public Service.
Eko Hot News reports that the training programme was organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training. It was held at Novatel Hotel in Chevron, Lekki, bringing together senior public service officials across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
The bootcamp is themed “Future-Ready Public Service: Leveraging Learning and Development for Success.” It is designed to strengthen capacity, improve efficiency, and promote innovation within the public service.
In his remarks, Agoro described the initiative as a clear demonstration of the state government’s investment in human capital development. He noted that continuous training is essential to bridge existing capacity gaps.

He emphasised that Lagos must sustain its leadership position through innovation and adaptability. According to him, a strong culture of learning is critical to achieving this goal.
Agoro also highlighted the importance of digital competencies in today’s public service environment. He noted that officers must be equipped with modern skills to meet evolving demands.
He stated that success in the public sector is no longer measured by years of service. Instead, it is defined by the value delivered and the impact made on governance and service delivery.
The Head of Service described public service as a calling that requires dedication and professionalism. He encouraged participants to remain committed to excellence in their duties.
He added that improved staff training will enhance overall service delivery across MDAs. This, he said, will lead to better outcomes for residents of Lagos State.

Agoro urged participants to align their training initiatives with the state government’s development framework. He referenced the THEMES+ Agenda as a guide for driving progress and innovation.
He also stressed the need for collaboration and knowledge sharing among public servants. According to him, teamwork is essential for achieving institutional effectiveness.
Participants were encouraged to actively engage in all sessions of the bootcamp. Agoro noted that practical participation will ensure meaningful learning outcomes.

He further called on attendees to adopt a forward-thinking mindset. This includes embracing change, innovation, and continuous improvement in their professional roles.
The programme is expected to enhance leadership capacity among HR and administrative directors. It also aims to strengthen workforce planning and development strategies.
The bootcamp reflects Lagos State’s broader commitment to reforming the public service. It highlights the importance of building a resilient and efficient workforce.
Agoro concluded by wishing participants a productive and impactful training experience. He expressed confidence that the knowledge gained will translate into improved performance across the public service.
