The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has praised students of the Women Development Centre (WDC), Agege, for their outstanding creativity and innovation displayed at the 2025 Exhibition of Creative Talents and Skills.
Eko Hot News reports that the commendation was given by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Ajibike Onigbanjo, during the exhibition showcasing works from various departments of the centre.

She reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to empowering women and youths with practical skills that promote employability and economic independence.
Mrs Onigbanjo, who was represented by the Director of Audit in the ministry, Mrs Adenike Akinyemi, expressed admiration for the quality of garments, craftsmanship, and modern techniques presented by the trainees.
She noted that the displays aligned with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of the Lagos State Government.
She described the works as contemporary and market-ready, stressing that the students’ creativity reflected the effectiveness of the state’s skill acquisition programmes.

She encouraged the trainees to remain focused and continue refining their skills to compete in Nigeria’s growing creative industries.
The Director of the Women Development Centre, Agege, Mrs Olufunke Adeleye-Segun, commended the students for their dedication, financial commitment, and perseverance throughout the one-year training programme. She assured them that their efforts would yield positive returns.
Mrs Adeleye-Segun urged the trainees to stay innovative, nurture their passion, and remain connected to market trends to ensure long-term relevance and competitiveness.
She also announced that application forms for the next academic session are available for ₦1,000, while tuition for the one-year vocational training remains free.
She listed courses offered at the centre to include Fashion Design, Hairdressing and Cosmetology, Photography, Catering and Hotel Management, Textile Design, Barbering, and Bead Making, among others.
She encouraged graduates to pursue entrepreneurship with sincerity and explore multiple income streams.

The event also featured the recognition of outstanding staff members for dedication and service, with awards presented to Mrs Dupe Joy Simeon of the Hairdressing and Cosmetology Department and Mrs Shakira Agboola, Secretary to the Director.
