President Donald Trump appeared unaware of First Lady Melania Trump’s latest legislative work during the annual Congressional Ball in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, December 11.
Eko Hot News reports that the first lady introduced her “new legislative initiative” to lawmakers while the president looked on.

Speaking to the audience, Melania highlighted her successes in 2025, particularly the Take It Down Act, and expressed hope for bipartisan support on her upcoming initiative for 2026. She did not provide specific details but mentioned that work with Congress had already begun.
After Melania stepped away, President Trump quipped to the crowd, “Well, I just heard about that for the first time,” adding, “I don’t know what it is she’s doing, but I know it’s going to be great for children,” referring to her commitment to youth and her son, Barron Trump.

The Take It Down Act, signed into law in May, targets the online distribution of revenge porn. Melania’s new initiative may relate to her Fostering the Future program, announced in the fall, aimed at enhancing support for foster care and transitional youth.
In November, Melania’s office announced an executive order to expand federal resources for public-private partnerships, improve state child welfare data systems, and track foster care program performance.
The first lady’s previous Be Best campaign focused on children’s well-being, online safety, and opioid abuse prevention, encouraging young people to achieve their best while promoting social, emotional, and physical health.
