President Donald Trump says he will sign an executive order this week to federalise Artificial Intelligence regulation, creating a unified national framework for the rapidly advancing technology.
Eko Hot News reports that Trump announced the plan on his Truth Social platform, arguing that the U.S. must operate under a single AI rulebook to maintain global leadership. He warned that allowing 50 states to regulate AI independently would slow innovation and burden companies with excessive approval requirements.

Trump said the executive order, dubbed the “One Rule” policy, will prevent what he described as a fragmented regulatory environment. He noted that state-level policies could undermine investment and hinder national growth in the AI sector.
He previously stated that the country “must have one Federal Standard” rather than a patchwork of state regulations. According to him, excessive restrictions at the state level pose a threat to U.S. competitiveness.

The development comes as Google CEO Sundar Pichai also called for national AI regulation during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.” Pichai warned that more than 1,000 AI-related bills across U.S. states could create confusion and weaken America’s position against global competitors like China.
Pichai questioned how tech companies could navigate varying regulations while competing with countries moving aggressively into AI. He stressed the need for balance and cohesive governance to support innovation.
