Tinubu’s Minister has emerged as the new APC National Chairman.
Eko Hot News reports that the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress has named Yilwatda Nentawe, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, as substantive chairman of the party.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who heads the Progressive Governors’ Forum, announced the motion at the ongoing 14th meeting of the Committee holding at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
The motion was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas. The minister was immediately sworn in thereafter.
Nentawe took the oath of office at 02:50 pm in the presence of party bigwigs during the 14th NEC meeting, which was held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The new APC National Chairman, who hails from Plateau State, North Central Zone, was the APC’s Governorship candidate in the 2023 elections.
The Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, assumed office in an acting capacity after Ganduje stepped down.
Stakeholders had expected NEC to ratify Dalori’s role and give him a timeframe within which to organise an elective National Convention to choose a substantive chairman.
