Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated the Board of the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund, charging members to mobilise resources for grassroots and school sports development across the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the inauguration ceremony was held at Lagos House Marina, where the Governor urged the board to leverage its expertise and networks to strengthen sports institutions in Lagos.

The board is chaired by Enitan Oshodi, President of the International Table Tennis Federation, with Mr Olaposi Agunbiade serving as Executive Secretary/CEO.
Other members include representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as the Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission and the leadership of local government councils.
Sanwo-Olu said the mandate of the board is to attract funding, improve existing sports facilities and create sustainable structures that will benefit future generations.

He encouraged members to focus on grassroots sports, school competitions and divisional sporting activities to nurture young talents.
The Governor noted that the Trust Fund would serve as a bridge for private sector participation in sports development, especially for organisations that prefer not to engage the government directly.
Speaking, Oshodi said the board’s priority is to create pathways for raising funds to support infrastructure, athlete development and sporting excellence.
He emphasised that while the Lagos State Government invests heavily in sports, private sector support remains essential for long-term growth in a megacity like Lagos.
