Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has inaugurated the newly appointed Governing Council of the Lagos State University (LASU). The ceremony was held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Lagos House, Ikeja.
Eko Hot News reports that the announcement was shared on the Lagos State Government’s official X handle, confirming the administration’s renewed focus on strengthening governance and academic development at the state-owned institution.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the council to uphold transparency, professionalism, and accountability while steering the university’s affairs. He noted that LASU remains one of Lagos State’s most important educational assets and must continue to drive innovation and human capital development.
He further tasked the council with ensuring policies that support academic stability, staff welfare, and infrastructural improvements. According to him, harmonious collaboration between the council and the university management is essential for sustaining progress.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting LASU through consistent investments in facilities, technology, and research capacity. He added that the new council is expected to introduce reforms that will enhance the university’s national and global reputation.
