The Lagos State Law Reform Commission has strengthened collaboration with the Parastatals Monitoring Office to advance institutional reforms and modernise the legal framework guiding public agencies in Lagos State.

Eko Hot News reports that the strategic engagement took place during a courtesy visit by the Law Reform Commission to the Parastatals Monitoring Office, aimed at fostering stronger cooperation to improve governance systems and enhance service delivery across government institutions.

Welcoming the delegation, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Parastatals Monitoring, Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, commended the leadership of the Commission for its dedication to strengthening the state’s legal structure.

He acknowledged the complexity of the Commission’s mandate and encouraged its leadership to continue implementing reforms that support institutional growth and effective governance across Lagos State.

Obanikoro emphasised the importance of collaboration among government institutions, noting that working independently often limits progress. He urged public agencies to adopt a coordinated approach that promotes efficiency and citizen-focused service delivery.

According to him, the success of public sector leaders is often measured by the strength of the systems they establish and the lasting institutional standards they promote.

The Special Adviser explained that the Parastatals Monitoring Office plays a supportive advisory role by guiding state agencies to consult the Law Reform Commission when reviewing their enabling laws.

He noted that such consultations help determine whether existing laws remain relevant, require review, or need updates to reflect evolving governance demands.

Obanikoro also assured the Commission of the PMO’s continued support in ensuring that Lagos State maintains a modern legal framework capable of responding to contemporary administrative realities.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Parastatals Monitoring Office, Olugbenga Aina, described the visit as the beginning of a strategic partnership rather than a routine engagement.

She explained that law reform plays a critical role in ensuring that existing legislation remains clear, relevant, and suitable for modern governance structures.

According to Ogunlola, effective legal reform must be based on research, evidence, and reliable data that reflect the practical experiences of government institutions.

She highlighted the importance of performance reports and monitoring data generated by the Parastatals Monitoring Office in identifying areas where legal amendments or updates may be required.

Ogunlola stated that the Commission intends to work closely with the PMO to establish a structured feedback system that supports evidence-based reform initiatives.

She added that the partnership would also help develop periodic reports to guide legislative reviews and ensure that legal reforms are aligned with measurable governance outcomes.
