The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) petrol price reduction has taken effect, with the state-owned firm lowering fuel by ₦80 per litre. The new price in Abuja now stands at ₦835 per litre, down from ₦915.
Eko Hot News reports that this is the third petrol price adjustment by NNPCL in December 2025, following earlier reductions on December 4 and December 10.
Private marketers, including MRS, BOVAS, and AA Rano, had also recently reviewed their fuel prices to between ₦739 and ₦865 per litre in the nation’s capital.

The latest cuts come after Dangote Refinery and other depot owners reduced ex-depot prices to between ₦699 and ₦800 per litre, influencing retail prices nationwide.
Industry observers note that these reductions aim to ease pressure on consumers amid rising living costs and economic challenges.

NNPCL has yet to issue an official statement regarding the new price, but on-ground checks at filling stations confirm the updated rates.
Consumers are advised to monitor prices across stations, as pump rates may vary slightly depending on location and distribution costs.
The series of reductions signals ongoing adjustments in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector, reflecting supply dynamics, crude oil prices, and foreign exchange stability.
