He urged the students to engage actively during the training, emphasising that effective documentation remains crucial for understanding history and preserving institutional knowledge.

“Without records, there will be no knowledge of the past,” the Director-General said, while encouraging the participants to apply the lessons learned to their professional duties within the Nigerian Navy.

Responding on behalf of the visiting team, Sub-Lieutenant Majesty E. Eguke expressed appreciation to LASRAB management for the warm reception and the opportunity to benefit from the on-site training.

He noted that the visit was aimed at strengthening the Nigerian Navy’s capacity in records and archives management, particularly in preserving operational and historical documents.

Sub-Lieutenant Eguke further requested that the collaboration between NNCETT and LASRAB be sustained through annual training engagements to enhance continuous learning.

During the visit, the students were taken on guided tours of key LASRAB facilities, including the Records Centre, Reference Library, Repository, Newspaper Morgue, Model Registry, and Gallery.

An instructor accompanying the team, Ms Onwuka Mary Ijioma, described the training as impactful, noting that it bridged the gap between classroom theory and practical application.

She commended LASRAB for its high standards in records organisation, preservation, and accessibility, adding that the exposure would positively influence the students’ professional competence.

The students also expressed satisfaction with the training experience, describing it as insightful and relevant to their future responsibilities.

They appealed for more structured engagements with LASRAB, noting that continuous collaboration would strengthen records management practices across institutions.

The visit reflects LASRAB’s commitment to capacity building and inter-agency collaboration, while reinforcing the importance of records and archives management in national development.
