The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission has confirmed the official resumption of duty by its newly appointed Board Members following their confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly on January 22, 2026.
Eko Hot News reports that the development comes after the dissolution of the Commission’s former Board in December 2025, in line with statutory requirements, effectively concluding the reconstitution process of the electricity regulatory body.
The move underscores the Lagos State Government’s resolve to deepen governance reforms, accountability, and institutional efficiency within the electricity sector as part of its broader power sector transformation agenda.

Under the Lagos State Electricity Law 2024, the newly inaugurated Board is mandated to provide strategic leadership and regulatory oversight for electricity generation, transmission, distribution, supply, licensing, market operations, and consumer protection across the state.
The reconstituted Board is also expected to play a central role in advancing Lagos State’s electricity reform programme and supporting the state’s long-term energy transition goals.
Members of the new Board include Mr. Alexander Akinwunmi Ogunbiyi as Chairman and Mrs. Temitope George as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Member of the Commission.
Other Board Members are Engr. Adekunle Olabode Olopade, Executive Member in charge of Engineering and Systems; Mr. Olakunle Olaoluwa Falola, Executive Member overseeing Licensing and Regulatory Affairs; and Mr. Bello Wasiu Oladimeji, who serves as a Non-Executive Member.

According to the Commission, the Board brings together a wealth of experience spanning engineering, regulation, market operations, and corporate governance, positioning LASERC to deliver on its expanded mandate.
The Commission stated that the collective expertise of the Board will strengthen regulatory effectiveness, enhance consumer protection frameworks, and improve investor confidence in the Lagos electricity market.
LASERC further noted that effective regulation remains critical to ensuring reliable power supply, fair pricing, and sustainable infrastructure development in Africa’s largest sub-national economy.
The Board is expected to engage closely with electricity market participants, government agencies, and other stakeholders to drive policy implementation and sector-wide collaboration.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and inclusive stakeholder engagement in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.
With the new leadership in place, LASERC aims to consolidate recent reforms and accelerate progress toward a more efficient, resilient, and sustainable electricity sector in Lagos State.
