The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), in collaboration with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), has re-sealed two properties on Lagos Island over environmental violations.

Eko Hot News reports that the enforcement exercise was carried out on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at No. 34 and No. 38 Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island.

The affected properties were sealed for the continuous discharge of untreated wastewater and raw sewage into the environment, despite earlier interventions by authorities.

Officials explained that the violations led to persistent offensive odour caused by dilapidated chambers and an overflowing septic tank, posing serious public health and environmental risks.

LSWMO further disclosed that the property owners also violated state regulations by breaking an earlier government seal placed on the premises.

The joint enforcement team noted that such actions undermine environmental safety efforts and expose residents and passersby to avoidable health hazards.

According to the agency, the operation aligns with the Lagos State Government’s commitment to enforcing sanitation laws and promoting a cleaner, healthier environment across the state.

LSWMO used the opportunity to caution property owners and residents against improper wastewater disposal and neglect of sanitation facilities.

The agency urged residents to adopt sustainable wastewater management practices and maintain proper hygiene to protect community health and environmental quality.

It warned that defaulters will continue to face sanctions, including re-sealing of premises and possible prosecution, in line with existing environmental laws.

The office reaffirmed its resolve to intensify monitoring and enforcement activities across Lagos to curb environmental abuse and safeguard public well-being.
