The LSSC has lauded the newly unveiled Bariga Sports Centre as a major milestone in Lagos State’s grassroots sports development drive.
Eko Hot News reports that the Director-General of the LSSC, Lekan Fatodu, made the remark during the commissioning of the Bariga Sports Centre at CMS Primary School, Bariga. The event formed part of activities marking the first 100 days in office of Bariga LCDA Chairman, Bukola Omope Adedeji.
Fatodu described the centre as a reflection of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to youth engagement, empowerment, and increased access to sports at the community level. He noted that the administration has proposed the construction of 10 community stadia across Lagos State, with the Bariga project serving as a clear demonstration of that vision.

He emphasized the importance of community participation in sustaining sports infrastructure, urging residents to support government-led initiatives. “The best thing we can do is support the good work the Governor is doing to promote community sports intervention of this nature,” he said.
The LSSC boss further stated that the Commission will adopt the Bariga Sports Centre as a model for future sports development efforts in Lagos. “As the agency responsible for sports in the state, we will use Bariga LCDA as a symbol of what is possible in sports intervention and infrastructure support,” Fatodu affirmed.
The unveiling of the facility, he added, strengthens Lagos State’s mission to expand sporting opportunities and nurture talent from the grassroots upward, ensuring that communities remain active contributors to the state’s growing sports ecosystem.
