According to the Commissioner, collaboration between the LSFVCB and film practitioners is vital for sustainable growth. She noted that the success of filmmaking in Lagos depends on synergy between regulators, creators, and stakeholders who understand the unique challenges facing the industry. “Together, we can achieve a harmonious blend of creativity and compliance,” she affirmed, reinforcing the central goal of the LSFVCB to ensure that artistic expression thrives within an environment of responsible filmmaking.

The Executive Secretary of LSFVCB, Mrs Adebukola Agbaminoja, expressed profound appreciation for the support the industry has shown since she assumed leadership. She emphasised that the LSFVCB is undergoing a progressive transformation—one that positions it not only as a regulatory agency but as a supportive and empowering institution for filmmakers across Lagos. “We must evolve into an institution that not only regulates but also supports and empowers, positioning Lagos as the creative capital of Africa,” Agbaminoja stated. She also highlighted the LSFVCB’s aspirations to boost co-productions in Lagos and enhance global distribution for Nigerian films infused with local culture.

This year’s conference, themed “Navigating the Future of Film: Balancing Creativity, Compliance, and Cultural Integrity,” featured several thought-provoking sessions and expert-led discussions curated to deepen industry understanding of emerging challenges and opportunities. Fadekemi Olumide-Aluko led a session titled “Reimagining Compliance as a Catalyst for Creative Excellence,” illustrating how LSFVCB’s regulatory framework can drive innovation rather than hinder it. Veteran filmmaker Zik Zulu addressed the rising cases of violence and abuse on film sets, calling for stronger safety measures—an issue the LSFVCB pledged to address proactively.

A session on Digital Citizenship and Online Etiquette by actor Segun Arinze shed light on responsible engagement in today’s digitalised film landscape. The conference also featured a panel discussion on the influence of streaming platforms on traditional film distribution models, with industry heavyweights Chioma Ude, Moses Babatope, and Uche Agbo sharing insights. The conversation, moderated by Victor Okhai, underscored the pivotal role of the LSFVCB in shaping future distribution dynamics.

To celebrate Lagos’ cultural richness, the LSFVCB and the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture thrilled guests with vibrant dance and drama performances that reflected the city’s creative energy.

Stakeholders praised the LSFVCB and the Lagos State Government for their continuous support and urged even stronger collaboration to propel the industry forward. The collective sentiment resonated clearly: with the LSFVCB at the forefront, Lagos is steadily advancing toward its goal of becoming Africa’s premier creative hub.
