The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has dislodged illegal street traders and removed unauthorised structures during an enforcement operation in Ifako–Gbagada, Lagos.
Eko Hot News reports that the exercise was carried out by LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement operatives. The team cleared traders operating on the roadside and median to address environmental infractions.

Officials said the operation was aimed at tackling environmental nuisances and restoring order in the area. Authorities also noted that the presence of illegal structures had contributed to traffic congestion and sanitation challenges.
The enforcement drive is part of ongoing efforts to ensure a cleaner and safer environment across Lagos communities. LAWMA reiterated that indiscriminate trading and obstruction of public spaces violate environmental regulations.

Residents and road users in the Ifako–Gbagada axis were urged to cooperate with authorities and comply with environmental laws. The agency emphasised that maintaining public order requires collective responsibility.
LAWMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining surveillance and enforcement activities across the state. It warned that defaulters would continue to face sanctions in line with existing environmental laws.

The agency maintained that consistent enforcement remains key to achieving a cleaner, healthier, and more organised Lagos.
