The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has intensified sanitation monitoring across key locations in Lagos Island as part of efforts to maintain environmental cleanliness and public health standards.

Eko Hot News reports that the authority’s Anti-Open Defecation Squad conducted an early morning monitoring and enforcement operation across Ebute Ero, Apongbon and Inner Marina.

The exercise was organised to address environmental nuisances including open defecation, public urination and other sanitation violations within the busy commercial areas.

Officials noted that the operation forms part of LAWMA’s broader strategy to promote cleaner public spaces and encourage responsible sanitation practices among residents and visitors.

During the enforcement exercise, five individuals were apprehended for violating environmental sanitation regulations.
