The Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has announced the reopening of all public parks across Lagos State following the completion of routine maintenance and upgrade works.
Eko Hot News reports that the parks were temporarily closed between January 12 and January 31, 2026, to allow for landscaping, facility repairs, and general upgrades after increased use during the festive season.
The reopening makes popular recreational spaces such as Ndubisi Kanu Park, Alausa (JJT Park), Dr Finnih Abayomi Park, Oregun, and other LASPARK-managed parks across the state accessible once again to residents and visitors.
According to LASPARK, the maintenance exercise was carried out to improve safety standards, enhance cleanliness, and preserve the overall ambience of the parks, ensuring they remain functional and welcoming green spaces.
The Agency explained that regular maintenance is critical to sustaining the parks as centres for relaxation, recreation, wellness, and social interaction for people of all ages.
LASPARK welcomed Lagosians back to enjoy the refreshed facilities and urged park users to take collective responsibility for maintaining the spaces by using amenities properly and avoiding littering.
The Agency also called on members of the public to help protect public assets, noting that vandalism and misuse undermine efforts to provide quality recreational infrastructure across the state.
It stressed that the care and preservation of public parks is a shared responsibility, as green spaces play a vital role in environmental sustainability, community wellbeing, and improved quality of life.
LASPARK reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining vibrant, clean, and accessible parks that support healthy lifestyles and enhance urban living in Lagos State.
