The Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has announced a temporary closure of all public parks under its management across Lagos State to allow for routine maintenance and upgrade works.

Eko Hot News reports that the closure will take effect from January 12 to January 31, 2026, following increased public use of parks during the recent festive season.

The agency stated that the measure is necessary to preserve park facilities and ensure a safe and pleasant environment for residents and visitors across the state.

Parks affected by the temporary shutdown include Ndubisi Kanu Park, Alausa JJT Park, Dr. Finnih Abayomi Park in Oregun, as well as other LASPARK-managed recreational spaces statewide.

LASPARK explained that the maintenance exercise will cover essential landscaping, repairs of park infrastructure, and general facility upgrades aimed at improving user experience.

According to the agency, the intervention is part of its routine management strategy to sustain high standards across Lagos public green spaces.

The agency reassured Lagosians that the closure is temporary and designed to enhance safety, cleanliness, and overall aesthetics of the parks.

LASPARK emphasized that the upgrade aligns with the state government’s commitment to promoting wellness, leisure, and environmental sustainability through accessible green spaces.

Residents and visitors were urged to bear with the agency during the maintenance period, with assurances that the parks will reopen in better condition.

LASPARK reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining functional, attractive, and environmentally friendly recreational facilities across Lagos State.
