The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary suspension of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway—from Admiralty Way Junction to Jubilee Bridge, Ajah—with contractors set to vacate the site on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Eko Hot News reports that the decision aims to ease the intense traffic gridlock caused by the construction activities, reduce travel time, and ensure stress-free movement for residents and visitors during the festive season.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this during a joint inspection alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, LASTMA officials, and the project contractor, CRCC. He expressed empathy over the hardship faced by commuters and assured them that the temporary halt was necessary to balance road rehabilitation with public convenience.

Osiyemi explained that palliative works currently underway would be completed and the entire stretch opened to motorists before the close of business on Thursday. He added that the government is committed to ensuring the road remains fully motorable as more Lagosians and visitors return for the yuletide season.
Special Adviser Engr. Daramola confirmed that completed sections—such as the Chevron intersection—would be fully reopened to traffic. He noted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu considers the corridor critical for residential, commercial, and industrial activities and remains committed to durable, long-lasting road infrastructure.
Both officials confirmed that contractors will remobilise in January 2026, after a fresh traffic management evaluation, to complete the remaining work with improved strategies to minimise congestion.
