The Lagos State Government has strengthened digital inclusion efforts as the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) graduated beneficiaries of its Digital Business Skills and Android Phone Empowerment Programme.
Eko Hot News reports that the three-day programme at the Women Development Centre, Agege, is with market women, MSMEs, young adults, and artisans as beneficiaries.
The initiative was designed to equip participants with practical digital and entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed in a technology-driven business environment.
At the graduation ceremony, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, described the programme as a strategic intervention for economic inclusion and sustainable livelihoods.

She disclosed that over 1,100 Lagos residents have benefited from the digital empowerment initiative so far.
The commissioner explained that participants received training in digital marketing, online visibility, and customer engagement.
She added that beneficiaries were also supported with brand-new Android smartphones to help scale their businesses.
According to her, the programme aligns with the THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly Education and Technology, Social Inclusion, and Economic Diversification.

Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs, Hon. Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon, advised beneficiaries to adopt ethical and safe business practices.
She cautioned participants to confirm payments before releasing goods and to retain the phones strictly for business use.

The training was facilitated by Liquidluck Consulting, with sessions covering digital foundations, customer relations, online marketing, financial management, and brand protection.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, appreciated the support of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and commended the facilitators.

Beneficiaries shared positive feedback, noting improved business knowledge and confidence in online promotion.
The event featured the presentation of Android phones, certificates, and group interactions.

WAPA reaffirmed its commitment to empowering residents through skills acquisition and economic inclusion programmes.
