The Lagos State Government has pledged support for a London to Lagos motorbike ride aimed at raising awareness and funds to eradicate polio.
Eko Hot News reports that the initiative, tagged “End Polio Now,” is being championed by Rotarian Olatunji Emmanuel Okedeyi.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, made the commitment during a courtesy visit by the campaign team.
Okedeyi was accompanied by the End Polio Now Project Director, Tolu Daramola.
Omotoso described polio as a serious health concern that requires collective global action.
He commended the initiative as a creative and impactful way to drive awareness across countries.
The Commissioner praised the courage and dedication of Okedeyi in undertaking the long-distance ride.
He noted that such advocacy efforts are vital in promoting public health campaigns.

The campaign aims to raise awareness and mobilise at least one hundred thousand pounds for polio eradication.
Okedeyi explained that the journey will begin in Kent, London.

The route will pass through several countries, including France, Spain and Morocco.
Other countries on the route include Mauritania, Guinea, Senegal, Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic.
The journey will end in Lagos, Nigeria, where further activities are planned.
As part of the fundraising efforts, Okedeyi will visit Rotary Clubs in each country along the route.
This approach is expected to generate support and contributions from international partners.
The initiative highlights the importance of collaboration in addressing global health challenges.
Upon arrival in Nigeria, the campaign will include a major community outreach programme.
The outreach will take place in Mushin Local Government Area.
It will form part of activities marking Okedeyi’s investiture as President-elect of Rotary Club, Mushin.
The programme is scheduled for July 17, 2026.
More than 50 volunteers are expected to participate in the outreach.
The initiative will provide essential healthcare services to members of the public.
Services will include optical care, dental treatment and physiotherapy support.
Medical supplies valued at one hundred thousand dollars will be provided by donors.
The outreach aims to improve access to healthcare within the community.
