The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with UFUK Dialogue Organisation to accelerate poverty eradication in rural communities across the state.

Eko Hot News reports that the assurance was given during a strategic meeting between the Ministry and UFUK Dialogue (Lagos Branch) to strengthen collaborative interventions for vulnerable groups, especially women and children.

Speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Cecilia Dada, commended the organisation for its humanitarian initiatives.

She expressed readiness to deepen collaboration in key programme areas, including Widows’ Day, Menstrual Hygiene Day, food and nutrition outreach, and medical screening for vulnerable women.

The Commissioner stated that the proposed partnership aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly in advancing social inclusion, gender equality, and youth development.

She emphasised that the state government remains committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in its development agenda.

Earlier, Women Coordinator of UFUK Dialogue Lagos Branch, Mrs Busra Salik, highlighted the organisation’s interventions across Lagos communities.

She disclosed that UFUK has provided scholarships for students up to secondary school level and facilitated cataract surgeries for persons with visual impairments.

Salik added that the group has organised feeding programmes for rural communities during festive periods and constructed boreholes in government schools.

She noted that the organisation also maintains ongoing collaboration with select Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in Lagos State.

In response, the Commissioner approved closer engagement between UFUK Dialogue and key directors within the ministry to ensure effective coordination.

She appreciated the organisation’s contributions to national development and reiterated the Ministry’s openness to strategic partnerships.

Dada assured the group of seamless collaboration to advance poverty alleviation and sustainable community development initiatives.

The engagement reflects Lagos State Government’s sustained efforts to build partnerships that address poverty and empower underserved communities.
