The Lagos State Government has inaugurated 114 Local Government Focal Persons and Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) Anti-Human Trafficking Desk Officers to strengthen grassroots action against human trafficking.

Eko Hot News reports that the inauguration was carried out on Monday at the DMO Office, Alausa, Ikeja, by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Lawal Pedro, SAN, as part of the state’s broader anti-trafficking strategy.

Mr Pedro said Heads of Legal Units across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs have been designated as Focal Persons, while LNSC  Anti-Human Trafficking Officers will serve as Desk Officers in their respective jurisdictions.

He explained that the framework promotes coordination, accountability, and clarity of roles by combining legal oversight with operational capacity and community intelligence at the local level.

The Attorney-General urged the appointees to remain vigilant and proactive, stressing early detection, prompt reporting, proper referrals, and continuous engagement with community leaders.

Mr Pedro assured the officers of sustained government support through policy guidance, coordination, and capacity-building initiatives.

Earlier, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mr Hameed Oyenuga, represented by Mr Johnson Ogunsanya, said the inauguration aligns with the 2025 Workplan of the Lagos State Task Force Against Human Trafficking.

Also speaking, the Lagos Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, represented by Mrs Hàjarat Tunde-Osho, commended Lagos for strengthening grassroots response and noted that the Task Force model has been adopted by 24 states nationwide.

Task Force Coordinator, Mr Olamide Ibrahim, clarified that the framework enhances collaboration without disrupting existing command structures, with LNSC Desk Officers operating within established protocols.
