The Lagos State Government has strengthened its project delivery capacity through a strategic workshop organised by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria.
Eko Hot News reports that the three-day Workshop on Work Planning and Execution for Strategic Impact and Project Implementation marked the conclusion of its second batch, following the success of the first session.
The programme underscores the State Government’s commitment to building institutional capacity and ensuring effective implementation of development initiatives across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Speaking at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ikeja, the Permanent Secretary, Olayinka Ojo, highlighted the link between strategic planning, budgeting, structural analysis, and field supervision in delivering sustainable infrastructure.
She stressed that professional qualifications alone are insufficient in today’s dynamic environment and urged participants to continuously upgrade their technical skills to remain effective.
In his remarks, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Foaud Oyede, described the workshop as central to ensuring government projects are well planned, properly tracked, and efficiently executed.

He warned that weak planning often leads to reactive implementation and poor coordination, while clear targets enable timely performance tracking and early identification of gaps.
Representing CIPMN, Mr Oyetunji Adekunle Bashir reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to structured training programmes aimed at strengthening project management systems across MDAs.

The workshop featured practical sessions on aligning execution strategies with approved budgets, optimising resource allocation, and promoting fiscal discipline. Participants also presented implementation plans developed during the training.
The programme concluded with certificate presentations to participants, who commended the Ministry for delivering a timely and impactful initiative to enhance planning efficiency and measurable service delivery outcomes.

The training reflects Lagos State’s broader strategy to improve governance, accountability, and project execution for sustainable development.
