The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to prompt payment of retirement benefits and sustained welfare support for retired civil servants.
Eko Hot News reports that the Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro, gave the assurance during a send-off ceremony for 203 officers who retired in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters of 2025 at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.

Agoro said retirement should represent renewed purpose rather than decline, noting that the government still values the retirees’ contributions to public service and community development.

He listed key initiatives for retirees, including prompt benefit payments, periodic interactive sessions, bi-monthly financial wellness webinars, healthcare coverage under ILERA EKO, inclusion in the Lagos State Single Social Register, and recreation and wellness centres.

The Head of Service urged retirees to remain mentors and continue contributing their experience to governance, adding that the administration remains committed to protecting their dignity.
He credited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat for sustaining policies that support retired workers.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary Mrs Sunkanmi Oyegbolu congratulated the retirees and advised them to prioritise their health in retirement.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Mrs Omotayo Gbajabiamila-Olamona appreciated the government’s decades of support and pledged the retirees’ readiness to contribute whenever called upon.
