The Lagos State Government has joined the global commemoration of International Volunteers Day with an energetic road show organised by the Office of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Eko Hot News reports that the rally moved across major locations in Ikeja, drawing volunteers, youth groups, civil society organisations, development partners, and government representatives.

The road show highlighted the vital role volunteers play in community development and social cohesion, with participants carrying banners promoting service, compassion, and civic responsibility.
Permanent Secretary of the Office of SDGs, Mrs Kaphayah Olayemi Sarumi, praised volunteers for their consistent support toward humanitarian and developmental programmes across the state.

She described the event as both a celebration and a renewed call for stronger commitment to volunteerism, especially in climate action, environmental protection, health advocacy, community impact, and youth empowerment.
Sarumi noted that volunteerism embodies sacrifice, selflessness, and a deep commitment to humanity, adding that the state government recognises and appreciates these contributions.

She reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to providing platforms that support volunteer engagement and enhance citizen participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The road show featured sensitisation stops, distribution of awareness materials, advocacy chants, and direct engagement with residents along the route.
The Office of SDGsencouraged Lagosians to embrace volunteerism as a tool for strengthening community resilience and supporting the state’s development vision.
