The Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy Toastmasters Club has held its International Speech and Evaluation Contests.

Eko Hot News reports that the event took place on Tuesday at the Ministry’s Conference Room under the theme “Love Beyond Words.”

The contest was organised to enhance the public speaking skills of Public Affairs Officers.

Area Director, Division D, District 130, TM Funmi Omotoso, welcomed participants and guests.

She described the contest as the heartbeat of the Toastmasters educational programme.

Omotoso congratulated contestants for their courage and confidence to compete.

Contest Chair and English Doctor, TM Craig Esohwode, said the event was a competitive speaking engagement.

He noted that contests allow members to learn and recognise excellence.

Chief Judge, TM Modupe Badiru, confirmed that contestants were properly briefed.

Four speakers competed in the International Speech Contest.

TM Babatunde Olubajo delivered a speech titled “The Journey.”

He spoke on his passion for football and personal growth.

TM Babatunde Omisore presented a speech titled “Love Beyond Words.”

TM Bukola Bakare delivered “Love, Music and Expression.”

She shared how music shaped her belief in love.

TM Kikelomo Oduyebo presented “Push Until Something Happens.”

Two members competed in the Evaluation Contest.

TM Remi Oladiende and TM Aduragbemi Ogundeko assessed and critiqued the speeches.

A bonus test speaker, TM Rasaq Odejayi, delivered “Listen Beyond the Ears.”

He emphasised the importance of active listening as a lifelong skill.

At the end of the contest, TM Bukola Bakare emerged Best Speaker.

She will represent the club at the District Level competition.

TM Aduragbemi Ogundeko won the Evaluation Contest.

In his closing remarks, Charter President and Director of Strategy Centre, TM Kayode Oyekanmi, thanked organisers and guests.

The event reinforced the Ministry’s commitment to capacity building and communication excellence.
